Made achievable through a groundbreaking $18 million donation from the Sobey Family, the Sobey Foundation, and Sobeys Inc., the Sobey National Innovator and Sobey MBA Scholarships are bestowed upon outstanding incoming undergraduate and MBA students nationwide. These prestigious awards not only acknowledge their remarkable achievements but also aspire to foster and bolster their accomplishments within the Sobey School of Business.
Scholars of the Sobey National Innovator Scholarships become integral members of the Sobey Scholars Network, an inclusive community comprising current and past students and faculty who have received financial backing from the Sobey Family, Sobey Foundation, Sobeys Inc., and Empire Company Limited.
Criteria:
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents entering the MBA program at the Sobey School of Business as full-time students.
- Demonstrate excellent academic achievement, with a GPA of 3.5 out of 4.3 or higher or a GMAT score of 650 or higher.
- Show interest or involvement in areas such as responsible leadership, entrepreneurial mindset, or innovative thinking.
- Must commence studies in the year the scholarship is awarded; candidates who have already begun their studies are ineligible.

Application Procedure for Sobey MBA Scholarships:

Sobey National Innovator Scholarships For Bachelor Of Commerce Students
We are delighted to offer 10 renewable entrance awards, each valued at $50,000 over four years, awarded annually. These scholarships aim to recognize and support outstanding students across Canada as they embark on their academic journey within the Sobey School of Business.
The initial scholarship in the first academic year is $20,000, with a renewal value of $10,000 per year for academic years 2-4, totaling $50,000 over four years. The scholarship is renewable based on the student recipient meeting the university’s academic requirements for renewal.
Criteria
- Acceptance into the Bachelor of Commerce program (September intake) as a full-time first-year student.
- Canadian citizenship or recent high school graduate with permanent residency.
- Minimum of 80% average, or an IB result of 28+, from high school, coupled with demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
- Strong encouragement for applicants from equity-deserving groups, including those who identify as women,
- Indigenous, Black/of African descent, racialized individuals, persons with disabilities, and/or individuals from diverse gender identities and those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
- The scholarship is not deferrable.
