The Loran Scholarship is one of Canada’s most renowned and rewarding prizes. The Loran Award, which is available at 25 partner colleges, is worth $100,000 over four years and includes mentorship, money for summer internships, and involvement in a vast network of past and present scholars.
Loran Scholarship Application
The Loran Scholarship application period is held each year in September/October. Shortlisted candidates are contacted at least two weeks before their semi-final interview date after submitting supplemental evaluations.
The Loran committees assess all applications and invite those who have been shortlisted (semi-finalists) to online interviews. These interviews provide semi-finalists with the opportunity to network with one another, meet the local leaders who act as Loran interviewers and receive critical interview experience.
Semi-final interviews will take place between the middle of November and the middle of December. Candidates chosen for semi-final interviews will be notified at least two weeks before their interview date.
The committees invite excellent semi-finalists to participate in their national interviews following semi-final interviews. The committees also bestow provincial and territory awards ($2,000 each) as well as honor citations on semi-finalists who distinguish themselves at the semi-final level.
