Job Description
Following all DOT rules and procedures, you will transport petroleum products to businesses, retail locations, and bulk factories safely and effectively as a tractor-trailer delivery driver.
As a professional who prioritizes safety, you will have the chance to work with others to plan daily routes, make sure the gasoline truck is loaded efficiently, and carry out comprehensive pre- and post-trip checks to ensure excellent performance and safety.
Your Responsibilities
- Operating a delivery truck with a tractor-trailer while following all DOT guidelines.
- Deliver Irving Oil Products to different areas within the specified boundaries.
- Work collaboratively with the dispatch staff to enhance route efficiency by suggesting changes to the delivery schedule.
- Identifying customers who should be grouped or pointing out delivery areas that provide difficulties.
- Make sure the truck is operating up to code by doing pre-and post-trip inspections.
- Accurately evaluate trucks, trailers, tires, pins, lights, etc.
- Keep up with the various trucks and trailers that you are familiar with.
- Respecting all safety regulations and guidelines, load and unload products from storage facilities in a safe manner.
- Notify the manager of any risks or dangerous circumstances that cannot be resolved on your own.
Your Skills
- Having prior experience with liquid loads is advantageous.
- Strong written and vocal communication skills when interacting with dispatchers, load builders, and occasionally consumers.
- You must have a basic understanding of math.
- Both sound judgment and a few technical skills.
- Ability to guarantee product delivery on schedule while taking into account any potential safety concerns and issues that may come up before, during, and after pre-trip inspections.
- A strong emphasis on safety is necessary.
Experience
- A current, clean commercial truck driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Class 1 designations with air brakes, WHMIS, and hazardous goods Accreditation
- A minimum of two years of experience in commercial transportation (class 1/A) and a high school diploma or GED are prerequisites.
