Principal Accountabilities
- Completes a range of tasks related to construction, general building, park, and grounds maintenance, as well as the installation, use, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment.
- Provides general construction, maintenance, and repair assistance to a variety of trade workers/handyworkers 1 and 2, as well as others, including building repairs, equipment setup, form and brickwork, furniture and equipment repair, etc.
- Installs, runs, maintains, and fixes small mechanical equipment issues.
- Operates a car as needed to carry out basic tasks; this includes driving a forklift, rubber tire loader, or overhead hoisting apparatus.
- Completes a range of tasks without the assistance of a certified tradesperson.
- Takes care of routine ground maintenance tasks like shoveling snow and trimming grass. carries out additional relevant tasks as given.
Important Requirements
- Significant experience carrying out a range of semi-skilled tasks.
- Skill and understanding in landscaping, building, construction, and the effective use and upkeep of related machinery.
- Must be eligible for and be able to maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario, as well as meet all equipment operating licenses and regulations set forth by the City.
Need
- The capacity to use equipment, power tools, and hand tools to carry out the aforementioned duties. the capacity to operate movable aerial equipment and scaffolding while working at heights.
- Must be able to withstand heights and dusty, loud, and odorous environments while taking the proper safety measures.
