Qualifications 

  • Three to five years of experience working as a first aid attendant or construction safety officer in the construction industry Current certifications in CSO, NCSO, and OFA 2 or 3, experience managing and collaborating with multiple trade contractors, and experience working with prime contractors in commercial, institutional, or residential construction settings
  • Comprehending the WorkSafe BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and the Workers Compensation Act of British Columbia, along with the capacity to mentor, educate, and advise employees
  • Must be able to collaborate with others, serve as the site superintendent’s mentor, and follow instructions.
  • Reliable, on time, and capable of representing Darwin in social situations with grace and professionalism 
  • Sets a good example, has a positive outlook, and demonstrates dedication to the Darwin team
  • A cooperative individual who enjoys working in a team setting and is looking for a long-term role with the flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • The capacity to detect risks, oversee risk assessment interventions, and implement suitable remedial measures
  • Strong computer abilities with Microsoft Office
  • Meticulous and well-organized when it comes to filing site paperwork

  • Capacity to establish and preserve connections with a range of stakeholders
  • Capacity to lead meetings on-site safety, such as committees, teams, and meetings with subcontractors.

Job Responsibilities

  • To guarantee ongoing site compliance, perform comprehensive daily site safety inspections, prioritize hazards, provide suitable corrective actions, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • To guarantee compliance, teach, mentor, and coach the team and site workers.
  • Launch incident response programs and oversee incident inquiries.
  • Organize orientations specific to the site, such as those for new and young employees and visitors.
  • Make sure that all employees on the job site possess current certifications before beginning any work.
  • Examine safety work plans, hazard assessments, JSA, JHA, SWP, FLHA, FLRA, and other instructions. Verify the effectiveness and completeness of the documentation.
  • Compile and execute a weekly and monthly statistical report.
  • Take part in the weekly site committee inspections and assessments as well as the site team reports.
  • Co-chair committee site meetings every month.
  • Take part in site inspections and assessments.
  • As needed, support and help the superintendent
  • Provide first aid to site staff as needed.
  • Continually update site documentation as needed
