Job Description

Following all DOT rules and procedures, you will transport petroleum products to businesses, retail locations, and bulk factories safely and effectively as a tractor-trailer delivery driver.

As a professional who prioritizes safety, you will have the chance to work with others to plan daily routes, make sure the gasoline truck is loaded efficiently, and carry out comprehensive pre- and post-trip checks to ensure excellent performance and safety.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operating a delivery truck with a tractor-trailer while following all DOT guidelines.
  • Deliver Irving Oil Products to different areas within the specified boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with the dispatch staff to enhance route efficiency by suggesting changes to the delivery schedule.
  • Identifying customers who should be grouped or pointing out delivery areas that provide difficulties.
  • Make sure the truck is operating up to code by doing pre-and post-trip inspections.
  • Accurately evaluate trucks, trailers, tires, pins, lights, etc.
  • Keep up with the various trucks and trailers that you are familiar with.
  • Respecting all safety regulations and guidelines, load and unload products from storage facilities in a safe manner.
  • Notify the manager of any risks or dangerous circumstances that cannot be resolved on your own.

Your Skills

  • Having prior experience with liquid loads is advantageous.
  • Strong written and vocal communication skills when interacting with dispatchers, load builders, and occasionally consumers.
  • You must have a basic understanding of math.
  • Both sound judgment and a few technical skills.
  • Ability to guarantee product delivery on schedule while taking into account any potential safety concerns and issues that may come up before, during, and after pre-trip inspections.
  • A strong emphasis on safety is necessary.

Experience

  • A current, clean commercial truck driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  •  Class 1 designations with air brakes, WHMIS, and hazardous goods Accreditation
  • A minimum of two years of experience in commercial transportation (class 1/A) and a high school diploma or GED are prerequisites.
